We have finally come to the end of one of the best new shows this fall season, Matlock. Matlock is a reboot of the original series starring Andy Griffith which ran from 1986-1995. In this retelling, Kathy Bates stars as Madeline Matlock but with a twist. The special 2 episode season 1 finale will air on CBS tonight, Thursday, April 17 at 9:00-11:00 PM ET.
From the beginning, in the pilot episode, it reveal that Madeline aka Maddy made up the Matlock persona based on the old tv show and her sister’s life to work at the prestigious New York law firm Jacobson & Moore to learn who hid documents that could have saved her daughter’s life, we as viewers have been on the edge of our seat. Kathy Bates proved why she is an Academy Award winning actress. We cannot leave out Skye P. Marshall, who plays Olympia, a young attorney who at first did not want to work with Maddy but over time they have built a beautiful relationship albeit based on Maddy’s initial lie.
We have watched all season Maddy almost get caught by lying her way out only to finally be found out by her close friend Olympia. It was a devastating blow to their friendship but Marshall and Bates gave a masterclass in acting. Now that Olympia knows Maddy’s biggest secret, what is in store for the season finale?
In the 2 episode finale special, titled Tricks of the Trade – Part One” and “Tricks of the Trade – Part Two”, we find Sarah at the center of a high-profile murder case, one that’s legally intricate and entertaining. With her client’s future hanging in the balance, she’ll need all the support she can get. Thankfully, Billy steps up, showing just how far he’s come this season as both a lawyer and a trusted teammate. But even the most determined legal duo will be tested when the case twists in unexpected ways.
While Sarah and Billy are in the courtroom trenches, Maddy and Olympia are facing their own crisis. Olympia is shown the evidence board at Maddy’s home. Will she finally have to face the possibility that her ex-husband is responsible for all of this or will Maddy be the one left hung out to dry?
