“A Very Royal Scandal” is streaming now on Prime Video.
Prince Andrew shook the British monarchy when he gave an interview to BBC’s Emily Maitlis back in 2019. The interview touches on Prince Andrew’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and the allegations of sexual abuse made against him by Virginia Giuffre. There was a settlement made in a civil case in 2022.
The official logline reads “One night. One hour. One interview that sent shockwaves around the globe. Based on the real–life 2019 interview between Emily Maitlis and Prince Andrew over the scandalous accusations he faced regarding his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein and Virginia Girffre.”
The interview was meant to be a defense against the allegations but quickly took a turn for the worse, forever changing the lives of everyone involved. The show takes us into the behind the scenes actions which led to journalist Emily Maitlis securing the coveted interview that had the world on the edge of their seat.
Not only will the show deep dive into Emily Maitlis leading up to the interview but viewers will see the drama that surrounded Prince Andrew as he prepared to enter into a conversation he had no control over. Viewers will recall the fallout from the interview and how repercussions were not just felt by the Royal Family but by everyone around the world that was associated with Jeffrey Epstein and his criminal activities.

Michael Sheen leads the cast as Prince Andrew with Ruth WIlson playing Emily Maitlis. A Very Royal Scandal also stars Joanna Scanlan as Prince Andrew’s private secretary Amanda Thirsk and Alex Jennings as Sir Edward Young, the Queen’s private secretary. Rounding out the cast is Eanna Hardwicke as Newsnight producer Stewart Maclean, Claire Rushbrook as Sarah Ferguson the Duchess of York and Prince Andrew’s ex spouse.
A Very Royal Scandal premiered on Prime Video on September 19th.
