From Bosch creator Michael Conelly comes a new character - cold case Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q). The original television series Bosch is an American police procedural produced by Amazon Studios and Fabrik Entertainment that stars Titus Welliver as Los Angeles Police Department detective Harry Bosch. The series ran for 7 seasons and ended in 2021. The next series spinoff was Bosch: Legacy that starred Titus Welliver as former LAPD detective Harry Bosch, with Mimi Rogers and Madison Lintz also reprising their roles from the original. In the sequel series, Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch has retired from the LAPD and works as a private investigator. Defense attorney Honey "Money" Chandler has him work on some cases for her. His daughter, Maddie, navigates her first days as a patrol officer with the LAPD, working from Hollywood Station, where her father used to be assigned.The series premiered on May 6, 2022 and ended in April of 2025 after a 3 season run on Prime Video.

The new series, Ballard is inspired by Michael Connelly’s novels, namely his “Renée Ballard and Harry Bosch” series.

Maggie Q will star as Detective Renée Ballard. She leads the LAPD's new and underfunded cold case division, tackling the city's most challenging long-forgotten crimes with empathy and relentless determination. Audiences will be entertained and engaged in the storylines as they watch Detective Ballard take over LAPD’s long-dormant and underfunded Cold Case division. She’ll investigate a serial killer’s string of murders and a murdered John Doe, before she uncovers a dangerous conspiracy within the LAPD.

Familiar faces from the Bosch franchise are sure to make appearances in this new and intriguing crime drama. Harry Bosch (played by Titus Welliver) will be back in Ballard. Harry will be lending Detective Ballard a hand with her cold case volunteer team who ”outwit both criminals and colleagues to bring long-overdue justice to the victims and their families.”
