Created by Zoe Robyn who also serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Carlton Cuse, Pulse premiered its first season today Netflix.
This intriguing medical series kicks off as a hurricane barrels towards Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center. The show centers on third-year resident Dr. Danny Simms (Willa Fitzgerald). She is unexpectedly thrust into a promotion when the beloved Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell) is suspended due to accusations raised to HR by Danny. Amid the worsening storm and an onslaught of trauma cases, the hospital goes into lockdown, and Danny and Phillips must find a way to work together - even as the bombshell details of a complicated and illicit romance between them begin to spill out.
The rest of the ER staff is left to process the fallout of their relationship while balancing their own challenges, both personal and professional, as they work under the pressure of life-or-death stakes. Because for this tight-knit group of doctors, saving their patients’ lives is often less complicated than living their own.

Justina Machado shines as Chief. The way in which she portrays the well-esteemed Dr. Cruz, with an authoritative tone and professional demeaner is perfection. Somewhat reminiscent of well know TV Doctor, Dr. Miranda Bailey from Grey’s Anatomy.
This 10 episode season is filled with life changing moments, romance, drama, betrayal, and an abundance of high stakes and emotional medical cases. This talented ensemble brings their A game, STAT!
