Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire New Season 2 Info
Interview with the Vampire takes on the City of Light

In mid April 2024, an AMC Network press release stated, this May will feature Season 2 of the critically acclaimed hit series Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire. This show has been heralded and praised with many viewers taking to social media and fan sites to leave 5 star reviews. These reviews have validated claims that this show is surely one that you do not want to miss. Reviewers on sites like Rotten Tomatoes have praised the show, “It's a great show, acting is top notch, set design is superb. It's an updated retelling of AR's classic novel, and it does a fantastic job,” stated Rachel, one of many who left a 5/5 star audience review for season 1 of this bloody good tale.
Season 1 starred Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid and Delainey Hayles as Claudia (played by actress Bailey Bass for 5 episodes in season 1) as vampire trio living and feasting in the streets of New Orleans, Louisiana. When we last saw our romantic vampire pair, Louis and Lestat, along with their blood thirsty teenage daughter Claudia, they were hosting a Mardi Gras masquerade ball at their French Quarter residence in New Orleans. This bloody ball ended up with quit a few characters meeting their demise, which potentially included Lestat. We see Lestat’s freshly murdered corpse packed into a suitcase and discarded on the gloomy New Orleans streets with the rest of the trash as Claudia and “Daddy Lou” head off to Europe in 1940.
The season finale was titled, “The Thing Lay Still” and there wasn’t anything that made the viewers feel “stillness” throughout this murder mystery, deceitfully charged and bloody finale. This finale episode was filled with moments of love, betrayal, lust, schemes, and twist while being set amongst the beautifully elegant costumes and charming ambience of ball season in New Orleans.

As a reminder, this story is being played out from Louis’ point of view with interviewer Daniel Malloy (played by Eric Bogosian) at Louis’ Dubai home in modern day times. Louis is the main narrator of the story in season one. As Louis recounts the events, we see them back in time playing out on screen. Throughout the first season, Louis has an assistant named Rashid (played by Assad Zaman) who seems to constantly be near or in the vicinity where the interview is taking place. Rashid is often seen hovering around, in the room busying himself with trivial tasks, catering to Malloy, and even offering himself to Louis who takes up his offer for a quick blood-filled bite. In the last few episodes of season 1, we see Malloy reading excerpts from Claudias old Diaries. With some newly discovered information, Malloy starts to notice that there are plot holes as well as falsities in Louis’ retelling about what really happened the night of Lestat’s murder in 1940 when he and Claudia teamed up, plotted, and executed the plan to kill his lover and creator Lestat. The biggest fabrication is the discovery of how Lestat’s body was discarded after Louis slit his throat. At the very end of the finale episode, it was revealed that Rashid is actually a 500-year-old vampire named Armand. Louis proudly proclaims to Malloy that Armand formerly known as the assistant Rashid is indeed “the love of my life.”

The first trailer for the second season was released on March 19, 2024 (view it here) and the most recent trailer was released on April 1, 2024, and I will be the first to tell you, this trailer and the dark path that some characters may go on this second season is not for foolish souls. The second seasons stars Jacob Anderson, along with Sam Reid, Eric Bogosian, Assad Zaman, Delainey Hayles and Ben Daniels.
In an interview with showrunner and creator Rolin Jones, when asked, What can you tease out about Season 2? Jones said, “We’re going to Europe and Part 2 of the novel is Episode 1 of Season 2. So, we're going there and we're going to experience that. Then we're going to Paris. We're going to see what coven life is all about, and we have some more time than the movie or even the book”.
According to AMC Network, the interview continues in season two as Louis tells of his adventures in Europe, a quest to discover Old World Vampires and the Theatre Des Vampires in Paris, with Claudia. It is in Paris that Louis first meets the Vampire Armand. Their courtship and love affair will prove to have devastating consequences both in the past and in the future, and Molloy will probe to get to the truths buried within the memories.
"There are big plot moments that we're retaining from it, but there are these emotional moments, too, within our plot, that might be slightly different than what’s in the book. I'm feeling really, really excited about that”, stated showrunner Rolin Jones.
