Big things are happening in season 3 of “Dark Winds”.
AMC’s mysterious series “Dark Winds” premieres Sunday, March 9.
Dark Winds continues to present an intriguing and entertaining story for audiences each season. Starring Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon, Jessica Matten, and Deanna Allison, Dark Winds follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn (McClarnon), Jim Chee (Gordon) and Bernadette Manuelito (Matten) of the Navajo Tribal Police solving mysteries on their reservation as it is besieged by increasingly violent and mysterious crimes in the 1970s.
Season 3 arrives on AMC Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 9 pm ET. Season 3 will be filled with big moments and psychologically thrilling episodes. Dark Winds is riveting, presenting a tantalizing and exhilarating storyline along with a stellar ensemble cast.
Season 3 will have eight episodes total. The season picks up six months after the events of Season 2. From the opening sequence of season 3, the show lives up to its name as intense and dark events immediately pull and immerse viewers into the story.
Each season also has a prominent roster of guest stars. To name a few, season 3 will guest star Jenna Elfman as FBI Special Agent Sylvia Washington, Alex Meraz as Border Patrol Agent Ivan Muños, and Terry Serpico as Border Patrol Senior Chief Ed Henry. This season also sees the return of guest stars A Martinez as Scarborough Police Department Acting Chief Gordo Sena and Jeri Ryan as Rosemary Vines.
Episode 1 titled "Ye'iitsoh (Big Monster)", follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee as they investigate the disappearance of two boys, with only an abandoned bicycle and blood-stained patch of ground left in their wake. Meanwhile, Bernadette Manuelito attempts to settle into her new life 500 miles from home with the Border Patrol, but stumbles across a conspiracy involving human and drug smuggling with far-reaching implications that may also impact her job.





With an all Native American writers room and diverse cast, this ground breaking series has been highlighted for its representation and cultural awareness. George R. Joe serves a Navajo cultural advisor for the series. In April 2023, the first episode of the first season, "Monster Slayer", was honored as an Outstanding Fictional Television Drama by the Western Heritage Awards of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. In May 2023, Dark Winds received several Vision Awards from the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC).
In advance of the series’ upcoming Season 3 premiere, AMC Networks announced on February 25, 2025 that it had renewed the critically acclaimed and popular noir drama for a fourth season.
