"Clean Slate" brings family drama and laughter front and center with Laverne Cox.
Prime Video's new dramedy series arrives today.
Clean Slate is an all new dramedy series starring actress Laverne Cox and comedian George Wallace. The Prime Video Original series arrives February 6, 2025.
From producer Norman Lear comes a heartfelt comedy that follows Harry (George Wallace), an old-school car wash owner in Alabama who has a lot of soul searching to do when the child he thought was a son returns as a proud, trans woman, Desiree (Laverne Cox). Her homecoming brings together a hilarious cast of friends and neighbors, as Desiree and Harry try to get it right the second time around. Loads of comedy and complicated family dynamic play out in this hilariously sweet series on Prime Video.
As funny as this series is, it’s also at times honest, emotional, and heartfelt. Any familial relationship that has become estranged or tarnished by time and space will require some soul searching and hard conversations when seeking to reconnect. However, both Harry and Desiree surely know how to bring the laughter in the form of repairing bonds in this extremely funny and poignant show.
Throughout the series, Desiree works to repair the fraught relationship with her father while also contending with his vastly different points of view now that they are living under the same roof for the first time in almost two decades. In Clean Slate, Harry and Desiree find themselves facing all of the hilarious coming-of-age milestones they missed out on the first time around. Their relationship, although tumultuous in nature, is still very much one of adoration and mutual love.
The people in Harry’s neighborhood, as well as his employees at his car wash who know him best, all watch the natural jokester and ever traditional Harry embark on a second chance journey that involves change, self reflection, and making amends. All things that this old school southern dad is not yet ready to face.
The fact that Harry’s former son arrives as a woman…plus having her arrival shake up this charming, non-progressive Alabama town almost sends Harry into a tailspin as he has just been around town excitedly boasting the return of his son. As this entertaining story unfolds, audiences will see Harry using comedy to grapple with his conflicting emotions and archaic ways of thinking.
The 8 episode series also stars:
Jay Wilkison as Mack, one of Harry's employees
Norah Murphy as Opal, Mack's daughter
D.K. Uzoukwu as Louis, Desiree's childhood best friend and the church choir director
Telma Hopkins as Ella, Louis's mother
Phillip Garcia as Miguel, Harry's neighbor

Cox and Wallace are the perfect comedic duo as their natural on screen chemistry allows audiences to join in on the laughter and become emotional connected to the relatable storyline involving complicated family history and LGBTQIA+ parental discourse.
Join in and watch the comedy and calamity ensue when family drama and distressing old memories come back, putting a stain on Harry and Desiree’s attempt at a “Clean Slate”.
