This moment, is where the limited series Clipped was born.
Clipped is FX Networks dramatization of the Los Angeles Clippers high profile and chaotic 2013-2014 basketball season. The limited series follows the hiring of African American former NBA player turned coach Doc Rivers (played by Laurence Fishburne), as he continues his veteran coaching career as the head coach for the Los Angeles Clippers in hopes to win a championship and turn the long-time losing franchise around. However, when Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who had been known for erratic character traits, questionable morals, and eccentric decision making processes is publicly exposed as a racist, basketball takes a backseat not only for the team, but for the world of professional sports.
Recordings of conversations between Donald Sterling and his then mistress, V. Stiviano were leaked. TMZ broke the news of the audio recording that was filled with racist remarks, misogynic views, and egocentrism.
The comments in the audio turned into a full-fledged and very public Scandal that had an impact not just throughout American sports, but across the globe.
In this limited series, viewers get a play by play into a world filled with sexism, power struggles, betrayals, racism, and illegal activities.
