Today, Amazon premiered its newest series titled “Counsel Culture”. Counsel Culture is a live forum, table style talk show premiering June 6, 2024 on Prime Video. Counsel Culture covers an array of personal lifestyle and healthcare topics ranging from grief, marriage, racism, anxiety and various other mental and clinical health topics. Culture Counsel is hosted by Hollywood veteran TV show host Nick Cannon. The show is derived from Cannons YouTube podcast, Counsel Culture Show, which is a safe and inclusive space for mental health discussions.
Throughout the season, some of the biggest names in the entertainment and sports industry join in for sit down, table style conversations to discuss, engage, open up to viewers, and speak their truth in front of a live audience.
We see moments of vulnerability and conviction from various people sitting at “the counsel” table as they discuss and converse about their personal challenges and struggles. Host Nick Cannon introduces and poses the counsel topics as well as engages in the discussions as the conversations unfold.
Counsel Culture recognized the need for input from medical and psychological professionals in the counsel and the series was sure to include clinicians on each forum. Many of the discussions involve topics that are often stigmatized in society.
The series does well to ensure that there are credible and certified professionals on the counsel to contribute dialogue, inform, and provide viewers with input from the perspective of a healthcare clinician.
Heavy topics that can affect all cultures like addiction, toxic masculinity, depression and more are brought to the forefront and discussed in a safe, healthy, and completely non-judgmental way. Counsel culture is a much needed series that allows viewers to step into a safe place and engage in healthy and healing conversation topics.
Professional input along with information about healthcare resources allows those who are viewing the series to realize the seriousness of many of these topics as well as realize that there is help out there for anyone who may be faces challenges in life. The engaging dialogue, self omissions, and willingness to open up about insecurities allow viewers to connect to various guest as they open up about their own experiences.
Through this series, Prime Video sets a prime example of what our society can be like when we continue to promote safe and open spaces with increased dialogue surrounding mental health and culturally significant topics. Counsel Culture is real, enlightening, socially aware, informative, and understanding regarding many challenges, obstacles, and daily struggles that any of us may face throughout life.
