Audiences are now halfway through season 2 of Doctor Who and this season has yet again proven why the mysterious sci fi drama is highly rated and thoroughly entertaining. An emotional and intense new episode aired on BBC and on Disney+ today.
Four episodes in and this season has been filled with mystery, exciting travels, and exhilarating multi timespan and dimensional events for the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and his companion, Nurse Belinda (Varada Sethu).
Episode 5 premiered today, May 10th on Disney+.
In the latest episode titled, “The Story & the Engine", the sights, foods, and sounds of an African marketplace come to life as Tardis makes a stop in Africa. While still trying to get Belinda back home to 2025, there are several heart to heart moments between The Doctor and Belinda that touch on important topics like culture, racial identity, feeling accepted in one’s own skin and within your own community.
What starts out as an exciting adventure for the Doctor to visit loved ones and acquaintances in Africa, turns into an intense and dangerous situation. Trapped and highly emotional from the unpredictable set of events, the Doctor must do his best to save both himself and others.
The storytelling in episode 5 is powerful and intriguing. The cultural mythology and infusion of sci fi elements help to make a truly thrilling and entertaining episode come alive.
