"Dope Thief" takes audiences on a riveting journey through the troubled streets of Philly.
Based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Dennis Tafoya, Dope Thief is an American crime drama television miniseries that debuted the first 2 episodes March 14, 2025 on Apple TV+. Created by Peter Craig, this gritty and engaging crime drama pulls audiences in through the immersive storytelling and relatable set of characters. Both emotional and electrifying on screen, actor Brian Tyree Henry carries the TV adaptation from the pages of the book on to new heights as lead character Ray.
Dope Thief follows long-time Philly friends and delinquents Ray and Manny, who pose as DEA agents to rob an unknown house in the countryside, only to have their small-time grift become a life-and-death enterprise, as they unwittingly reveal and unravel the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern Seaboard.
Throughout the series the clever and quick witted Ray serves as the alpha in this criminal, yet vigilant dynamic duo. As Manny and Ray optimistically and courageously pose as DEA agents to pull off heist in some of the most drug infested areas of Philly, they eventually expand. However, this expansion effort lands them in one of the most hostile and dangerous situations they have ever faced.
