Every Year After is Prime Video’s newest book-to-screen adaptation, all eight episodes landed today June 10, 2026. The series is based on Fortune's novel. Although slight changes to location from the book take place in the show. In the show, adult Percy lives in Seattle, Washington, and the lakeside town of Barry's Bay is relocated to British Columbia and various other aspects that helped to drive the tv series plot forward with added entertainment.
The story follows Persephone "Percy" Fraser, who spends her summers in Barry's Bay. While there, she becomes friends with Sam Florek, a boy who lives across the lake. After a betrayal, Percy and Sam become estranged, until they reunite again as adults — and face their true feelings for one another when she returns to the picturesque summer lake town of Barry's Bay.
The setting immerses you into the story—evoking memories or inspiring hope for experiences that involve everlasting love, youthful adventures, and summers packed with endless fun. Although this beautiful tale and dreamy lakeside story is heavily romance and drama centric, a few characters add an engaging factor to the series by providing charisma, fun, and a bit of flair.
