The season one finale of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place that aired on February 28, 2025 was full of surprises. The finale featured another cameo from original series Wizards Of Waverly place star Selena Gomez as Alex Russo.
However, that wasn’t the biggest surprise of the finale by far! FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE EMOTIONAL AND MAGICAL EPISODE BELOW (*spoilers ahead if you have not watched the finale yet*).
Throughout the season, the young and powerful wizard Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) has begun to transition from a mischievous student and new house guest, to an acclimated tween with friends, whose eagerly training to control her powers, while also experiencing a stable home life for the first time with the Russo’s (Justin, Giada, and their sons Milo and Roman).
This 21 episode inaugural season has been filled with coming of age adventures, chaos, lessons, hilarious moments, family and most importantly… MAGIC!
The season 1 finale titled, "Nigh is Now" had a cauldron full of significant and entertaining moments. In one of the most thrilling scenes in the finale, the entire Russo family was faced with being destroyed by a descendant of a powerful foe from the past. Although unbeknownst at the time, Billie led the villain to be in a position of power which caused everyone to be in this current predicament. With everyone in danger, the Russo’s were ready to take on anything in order to protect Billie, proving to her once again that she is indeed a Russo! With their backs against the wall, Billie stood proudly with her family.
It was in this very sequence of events when the most shocking and magical surprise was revealed! Both Russo kids, Milo and Roman now have magical powers! The young wizards led the charge to defend their family. So for now the villain has been thwarted….or so it seems!
We spoke to the superbly talented Disney star Janice LeAnn Brown about the epic season, Billie’s journey, spells, and what youthful shenanigans may ensue with 3 young wizards now living in the Russo household! Check out the video!
