"Godfather of Harlem" is gritty and emotional in season 4 finale!
Season 4 of Godfather of Harlem included 10 episodes with the final episode airing today, June 22. The season 4 finale of the critically-acclaimed Godfather of Harlem airs Sunday, June 22 at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT on MGM+.
The series continues to tell the story of legendary gangster and drug dealer Bumpy Johnson, played expertly by Forest Whitaker. It follows Johnson’s reign over Harlem NYC during the 1960s at the height of the civil rights era after a 10-year prison sentence.
Loss and loyalty have been s recurring theme this season. The season 4 finale titled “Unity Day,” debuts today June 22, 2025. In "Unity Day," Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker) and Joe Colombo (Michael Raymond-James) are at war, with both feeling they must kill the other in order to survive. Unfortunately for them, neither one is successful in their assassination attempts. However, Colombo learns the hard way that he has more deadly enemies than Bumpy, as he’s shot at the infamous unity rally by none other than Delia’s (Roslyn Ruff) son Jerome (Elijah Wright).
As all of this is going on, Bumpy has to come to terms with the fact that one of his most trusted lieutenants has betrayed him — Nat Pettigrew (Elvis Nolasco). When it became obvious that Nat was feeding Colombo information on Bumpy, Nat only narrowly escapes death at the hands of his former allies.





Throughout the 10 episode season, lead actor Forest Whitaker has delivered a masterful performance, showing both grit, power, and deeply impactful emotions.

Episode 1 “New Harlem” - Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker) plans to build a new club in Harlem but faces challenges in financing it without relying on the heroin trade. Elise (Antoinette Crowe-Legacy) testifies in the Malcolm X murder trial when three innocent men are accused. Meanwhile, Stella (Lucy Fry) negotiates a business deal between Colombo and Chin.
Episode 2 “Country Boy” - Bumpy must turn the Five Families against Chin when he violates their peace agreement. He tasks newcomer Frank Lucas (Rome Flynn) with robbing a shipment of Gigante heroin. Elise learns of a plot to kill Omar (Maurice Jones), and Stella makes a play to become boss of the family.
Episode 3 “The Straw Man” - When the property for Bumpy’s new club is being sold to a powerful, white real-estate developer, Bumpy must convince the Black “Straw Man” to sell it to him instead. Mayme (Ilfenesh Hadera) and Elise stage a protest at Margaret’s (Demi Singleton) school.
Episode 4 “Union Blues” Bumpy battles a union strike threatening the construction of his club. Elise bails out a fellow Panther, and Frank faces consequences for Cowboy Nick’s murder. The episode delves into the complexities of labor relations and political maneuvering.
Episode 5 “Concrete Jungle” Bumpy finds a new concrete supplier that subverts payments to the Italians. Elise and the Panthers plan a symbolic display against the police. Frank is tasked with a job for Colombo. Mayme asks James Baldwin to do a reading for the Fine Arts Board.
Episode 6 “The Visit” Bumpy has a heart attack and starts seeing visions of Malcolm X. He tries to make a deal with Colombo to bring his trusted Del Chance (Erik LaRay Harvey) back. Olympia Gigante (Katherine Narducci) shows up with revenge on her mind, while Elise discovers a mole within the Panthers.
Episode 7 “The Pawn Goes First” The opening of Bumpy’s new club, The Club St. Clair, has him stressed about the money he owes Colombo. Meanwhile, Frank is tasked with saving himself from Italians who are trying to kill him. Mayme is held back from joining the Fine Arts Board due to a financial situation. Elise is seen having a heartfelt conversation.
Episode 8 “If We Must Die” The white real-estate giant is back to sue Bumpy and claim Club St. Clair as his, although this time Bumpy is backed by the Italian Mafia. Delia’s (Rosalyn Ruff) son is drafted to Vietnam, and the Panthers step in. Meanwhile, Colombo approaches Stella with an interesting offer.
Episode 9 “Black and White” Bumpy contacts a nemesis from the past to help him with Colombo. The Panthers investigate one of Malcolm’s alleged shooters after Omar finds out their name. Mayme accepts an invitation to the Black & White ball.
