HBO released an intense season 2 teaser for hit apocalyptic series “The Last of Us”
The Last of Us is an American post-apocalyptic drama television series created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO. Season 1 premiered on HBO on January 15, 2023. Based on the video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog, the series is set twenty years into a pandemic caused by a mass fungal infection, which causes its hosts to transform into zombie-like creatures and causes the collapse of society.
The series creators did well to keep audiences entertained and scared just enough while bridging the gap between those who were alive pre-apocalypse and those we were born into the world after the spread. As the main characters Ellie and Joel venture out of their safe zone into the unknown and desolate world, danger from zombies isnt nearly the only thing that derails and hinders them from having a safe trip to their destination in a timely manner. Throughout the first season, viewers were able to easily connect to characters as they showcased their will to survive, venture out on perilous and dangerous journeys, adapt to loss, and how they internalize and repress certain aspects of their trauma in order to keep moving forward.
The Last Of Us season 1 was a tragically, yet beautifully written tale about survival, loss, grief, acceptance, and love. The entire Season 1 of The Last of Us is streaming now on Max.

Season 2 is set to premiere in 2025 on HBO. Season two returning cast includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Previously announced new cast includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars.
The new season picks up five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
