Loot returned for season two a year after Molly Wells (Maya Rudolph) settles her very public divorce from tech billionaire John Novak (Adam Scott), and we find her thriving in her role as the head of her philanthropic organization, the Wells Foundation. Focused mainly on her charity work, Molly has sworn off any new relationships with men. Fabulously single but not particularly independent, Molly keeps her trusty assistant Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster) by her side. He diligently caters to her every whim … and occasionally feeds her a kale smoothie spiked with gin(via Apple TV+ PR).
Season 2 premiered on Apple TV + on April 3, 2024 with a 2 episode release. A single episode has been released on a weekly basis every Wednesday since the premiere. Episodes will continue to release every Wednesday up until the finale on May 29, 2024.
Right out of the gate in season 1, viewers can see that this star studded cast shines! Maya Rudolph along with Adam Scott, who many fans may know from Apple TV +’s hit psychological thriller show Severance, show a natural level of on screen chemistry through wry banter and comedy. Viewers are drawn in to their auspicious lifestyle that slightly comes across as misaligned, unorganized, and out of sync through various funny scenes and comedic dialogue. As stated above, season 2 takes place after Molly and John’s very public 20 year divorce. Viewers are seeing Molly take charge by monitoring, organizing, philanthropically allocating, and maintaining 87 billion dollars from the settlement. Molly is back in the office working hard and also trying to balance her personal life while finding her true meaning beyond just being a wealthy socialite.
A true comedy, Loot is set mainly in the workplace and at Wells Foundation events. Loot has some new comers on screen as well as a previously experienced and dazzling ensemble to boot. To say it clearly, this show is not just any old loot, it is a treasure trove filled with gems. The diversity and talent of this cast is definitely something that should be noted. Molly’s assistant Nicholas (played by Joel Kim Booster) is a transracially adopted Asian male that comes off as snarky, judgmental, candidly funny, and is often known to be Molly’s somewhat overtly honest moral compass. Booster provides viewers with a bounty of comedic on screen moments throughout each season.
Amongst the vast sea of TV show streaming options, Loot is definitely one to treasure. Check out the Official Trailer from the first season of Loot below.
