The Americas: A Wild 250th is special documentary airing tonight, July 2 on NBC celebrating the nation's 250th birthday by highlighting iconic American wildlife.
The Americas is an immersive 10 part docuseries that is 5 years in the making. Showcasing the wonders, secrets and fragilities of the world’s greatest supercontinents.
Narrated by Oscar winner Tom Hanks, the series uses cutting-edge technology to uncover never-before-seen behavior, and highlight the extraordinary, untold wildlife stories that will deeply connect with millions around the world.
The Americas takes audiences on an unforgettable and engaging adventure, uncovering new species, new intimate courtship, dramatic deep sea hunting and some of nature’s strangest stories – even a frog that seems to defy death every day.
The previous hourlong 10 episode docuseries that debuted in March 2026 titled, The Americas featured a different iconic location across the Americas in each of the episodes: “The Atlantic Coast,” “Mexico,” “The Wild West,” “The Amazon,” “The Frozen North,” “The Gulf Coast,” “The Andes,” “The Caribbean,” “The West Coast” and “Patagonia.” This engaging and Emmy-nominated nature series has been renewed for a second season where it will continue to explore new regions and dig deeper into the wildlife and majestic landscapes that the supercontinent has to offer. Production is currently underway, and the new season is set to premiere in 2028.
Now this brand new special, The America's: A Wild 250 takes flight with immersive and captivating cinematography to celebrate 250 years of the United States by shifting the lens onto the country's most iconic and resilient wildlife. It highlights keystone species that embody the rugged, diverse, and untamed "American spirit" across the continent.
This special premieres tonight on NBC AT 9 p.m. ET/PT and streams the next day on Peacock.
