"Nutcrackers" breaks through on Hulu for a hilarious and heartwarming holiday tale.
Ben Stiller returns to acting in Hulu’s new hilarious, family holiday film Nutcrackers. He plays middle aged, strait-laced and work-obsessed Mike who is suddenly thrust into being a caregiver for his rambunctious, knucklehead, orphaned nephews.
This film features Ben Stiller in his first lead film role in six years, in addition to Linda Cardellini, Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker, and Toby Huss.
The film is directed by David Gordon Green, who was inspired by the four sons of his lifelong friend living on a farm. The Janson brothers were the inspiration for the film and Homer, Ulysses, Atlas and Arlo also star in Nutcrackers as the orphaned nephews. Many of the animals you see in the film actually belong to the brothers. The majority of the film was shot in their home on a farm in Ohio.

The synopsis reads, straight-laced Mike (Stiller), a workaholic from Chicago, who has to travel to rural Ohio to deliver his four nephews (played by a real-life quartet of brothers) who are considered “at-risk” into foster care following a car wreck that orphaned them. The heartwarming holiday dramedy is filled with comedy, a sprinkle of romance, and an although predictable, but heart warming ending.
Holiday movies like Nutcrackers serve to truly remind viewers what family means. Sometimes family may or may not be the family you intend to have, but they become family by being those who you have around you, who you love and make joyful memories with that counts.
NUTCRACKERS PREMIERED ON NOVEMBER 28 ON HULU. IT IS ALSO STREAMING ON DISNEY+ INTERNATIONALLY.
