Season 43 of NATURE saw its debut on October 23, 2024, at 8|7c on PBS and YouTube with the premiere episode titled, “Silverback”. The episode follows filmmaker Vianet Djenguet as he comes face to face with a 500-pound gorilla in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Djenguet documents a grueling but vital mission to habituate a notoriously protective 500-pound silverback, in a last-ditch effort to save the critically endangered Eastern lowland gorillas from extinction.
The unfiltered joy and passion that wildlife cinematographer Vianet Djenguet displays when viewing and experiencing the wild is truly remarkable. The ability to engage, stay safe, and educate the audience on what is taking place with these wild animals and in nature is nothing short of award worthy.
