Sally Ride became the first American woman to blast off into space, but beneath her unflappable composure, she carried a secret. Revealing the romance and sacrifices of their 27 years together, Sally’s life partner, Tam O’Shaughnessy, tells the full story of this complicated and iconic astronaut for the first time.

June is Pride Month. This monumental and emotional film chronicles how life for many people in the LGBTQIA+ community face hardships, biased, and inner battles all because they were considered or judged for their sexual preference, gender, or orientation during throughout history. Regardless of class, race, or occupation, these hateful and biased ideologies have affected, traumatized, and discriminated against people from the LGBTQIA+ community both then and still often now today. Sally and Tam’s relationship, which began in the 1980s, was kept private for decades and only publicly acknowledged after Ride's death in 2012. Since then, O'Shaughnessy has become a prominent voice for LGBTQ+ rights and STEM education, particularly for women and minorities.
Now for the first time, Nat Geo is giving audience a deeper look into the accomplishments, philanthropic work, and love life of American astronaut Sally Ride with first hand accounts from those who knew well and loved her the most.
