There are many athletic hopefuls who train, work tirelessly, and spend countless hours working on their craft in order to be able to compete on the biggest stage at the Olympic games, however, there are also some extraordinary athletes who are often thought of as frontrunners or “sure shots”, to achieve glory and bring a medal home to their country. So what happens when an athletic frontrunner arrives to the games, looks up into the spotlight, bares no physical injuries, but decides and announces that they cant compete?
Speculation unfolds, scandalous theories run wild in the media, critics are tenfold, and many fans and foes alike begin to question and draw ire. It is in those moments that the athlete must decide to become their strongest and rises to the occasion! Bravely putting them-self and their overall health first, regardless of the weight held by being under the public eye.
During the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, gold medal frontrunner gymnast Simone Biles withdrew from numerous events, sending shock waves through the entire world. Simone Biles Rising is her story of how she took charge of her mental health, rose to the occasion, faced obstacles, remained resilient, and is now back to reclaim her spot on the podium on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
