"The Chi" season 7 is here! Will bring Peace or Payback in the streets of Chicago?
The Chi is back for Season 7, the season premiered yesterday on May 18, 2025 at 9pm ET on Showtime (streaming on Paramount+ start May 16 with subscription). In the 7th season of this gritty crime drama, it feels like peace has finally settled over the city. After years of turmoil, crime, murder, and street violence, it started to feel like a positive change was underway in the community.
In case you aren’t familiar with the series, creator Lena Waithe's hit coming-of-age story, The Chi , centers on a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago, who after a series of unpredictable and tragic events, lives begin to connect. It centers mainly on characters Emmett, Brandon, Ronnie and Kevin as they navigate life in the urban and gritty streets on Southside Chicago in unexpected ways, dodging bullets and a life of crime, following their dreams, growing up, and trying to protect those that they love.
Through the first moments of much needed peace in The Chi, things look anew and promising. However, it isn’t long before this season proves that it won’t be all forgiveness, growth, roses and heart hands. With vengeance and payback on the menu for many, The Chi season 7 will explode in a new way on screen. Following the shocking demise of Douda, Nuck quickly rises as the new leader of the 63rd Street mob, creating a palpable power vacuum that impacts the entire community.
In Season 7 of "The Chi", with Alicia taking the lead, the pivotal women of the show reclaim their power. However, as loyalties are tested and new rivalries emerge, the season explores the high cost of wielding power in a world where one crown is all that matters.
Jacob Latimore (Emmett Washington), Lynn Whitfield (Alicia), Yolonda Ross (Jada Washington), Shamon Brown Jr. (Papa Jackson), Michael V. Epps (Jake Taylor), Birgundi Baker (Kiesha Williams), and Luke James (Trig Taylor).
