The Olympic Opening Ceremony Coverage Starts Soon Live from Italy. Find Out Which Team USA Athletes are Breaking Barriers and Becoming Pioneers in The World Of Sports.
The 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony will be held at 20:00 CET (2:00 PM ET) on February 6, 2026 at San Siro in Milan, Italy.
The 2026 Winter Olympic games are bringing thousands of athletes from around the world together to represent their country and compete in games on snow and ice for more than two weeks. Athlete’s will compete in 116 events across 16 disciplines for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Tonight’s opening Olympic ceremony marks the official start of the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Ceremony will include an artistic program showcasing the culture of the host country and city, the parade of athletes, and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.
In the US, live coverage starts at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT) on NBC and Peacock. The ceremony will last approximately three hours. A primetime encore presentation airs at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.


Speed skater Erin Jackson and bobsledder Frank Del Duca have been selected as the Team USA flag bearers for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.
Erin Jackson made history at the Winter Olympics by becoming the first Black woman from any country to win an individual gold medal in any sport. Competing in speed skating, Jackson's remarkable performance.
Jackson, 33, and Del Duca, 34, were selected by a group of their fellow Olympian peers as the U.S. flagbearers for tonight’s opening ceremony of the Milan Cortina Games.
Jackson is continuing to inspire the next generation and make monumental strides for black women in her respective sport. Jackson will become the eighth U.S. speedskater to carry the flag for Team USA and Del Duca will be the first bobsledder to carry the flag into an opening in 70 years.
“Being chosen to represent the United States on the world stage is a tremendous honor,” Jackson said in a statement Tuesday from the USOPC. “It’s a moment that reflects far more than one individual - it represents my family, my teammates, my hometown, and everyone across the country who believes in the power of sport. The Olympics remind us of the power of sport to connect and inspire, and I’m proud to carry that forward on the Olympic stage.”
With this being the most spread out games ever in terms of the location of the games, stadiums, lodging, and events. Per CBS News, the 2026 Games will be the first Olympics co-hosted by two cities, with competitions held across 13 venues in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The dual host cities mean it will become the most widespread Games in Olympic history, according to the International Olympic Committee, spanning nearly 8,500 square miles of northern Italy. Milan and Cortina are about 250 miles apart by road, nearly a five-hour drive.

Another noteworthy highlight in this Olympic games for Team USA is Cleveland Heights, Ohio native Laila Edwards. Laila Edwards is paving the way for future generations by competing at a high level, breaking records, and making history as the first Black woman to play for USA Hockey. As a toddler, Laila took up figure skating. She later transitioned into hockey around age 5. In college, Laila chose to play ice hockey at one of America’s premier Division I hockey programs at the University of Wisconsin.
“Obviously, my name’s on the roster, but I feel like my whole family made it to the Olympics,” Edwards told The Associated Press during a Zoom call promoting Downy Rinse. “All the sacrifices they’ve made, the things they’ve done to get me here, my parents, my siblings, I’m so grateful,. And for them to get to come and share the experience is going to be really special.”

According to The AP, due to an outpouring of donations, including a major push from the hometown NFL brothers Travis and Jason Kelce, Laila’s parents will be making the trip and joining her at the Olympics in Italy.
The recently turned 22 year old is becoming the face of hockey for Team USA and a pioneer in the sport. Known for being agile with a lethal slapshot on goal—Edwards is on pace to continue breaking barriers and inspiring a new generation each time she laces up her skates and hits the ice.
Out of 232 Team USA Winter Olympians, 9 Black athletes will represent Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. They will represent the United States across speed skating, bobsled, skeleton, ice hockey, and Paralympic sled hockey.
