There are big changes coming to NBC scripted and unscripted TV series!
Find out what's renewed, what's coming, and what's saying goodbye!
On today, NBC announced that it has picked up freshman drama series The Hunting Party, starring Melissa Roxburgh, and Brilliant Minds, headlined by Zachary Quinto, both for a second season. Brilliant Minds, from Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Prods, is staying in it’s slot, while The Hunting Party, from Universal Television, is moving to Thursdays 10 PM.
It came to us at little to no surprise that both of these series were renewed. Brilliant Minds has an array of likability and relatability in both storylines as well as characters. Not to mention, the lead character Dr. Oliver Wolf (played by Zachary Quinto) is apart of the LGBTQIA+ community which gives this series an important sense of representation for a lead character in a medical drama.
Having such a diverse and entertaining series, that is also inspired by the remarkable true story about Dr. Oliver Wolf Sacks gives Brilliant Minds a deeper level of genuine authenticity.
As for The Hunting Party, the in depth analysis and overall creative nature of each criminal being “hunted” throughout the series is phenomenal. The backstories, criminal profiles, and unique personality traits for each character is interesting and entertaining. This series is a crime drama, but also an intense psychological thriller.
The notable chemistry amongst the cast is also a highlight of the series. The series stars Melissa Roxburgh, Nick Wechsler, Patrick Sabongui, Josh McKenzie, and Sara Garcia. The Hunting Party is set to continue its thrilling run next season on NBC with more engaging, suspenseful, and unpredictable episodes.
Family dramedy sitcom Happy’s Place starring Reba McEntire, the hilarious hospital workplace mockumentary sitcom St. Denis Medical, singing competition The Voice, crime drama Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, public safety centric drama’s Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D, and medical drama Chicago Med have all been renewed by NBC.
Next, NBC has given a series order to the comedy starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe.
The series is currently titled The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. It was originally announced with a pilot order in March via Variety with Morgan in the lead role, while Radcliffe signed on not long after. Per the official logline, “A disgraced former football player (Morgan) is on a mission to rehabilitate his image.”
The series is set to have 10 episodes and reunite Morgan with some of his 30 Rock colleagues like the show's creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, who will also serve as executive producers for the new series.
An all new mocumentary titled, Stumble is also set for NBC. Stumble is a mockumentary style series about the ridiculously high stakes and competitive world of junior college cheer. Stumble is from creators Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof's and will star Jenn Lyon as the lead.
