Turmoil and Tension continue to rise as “61st Street” on the CW heads toward its midseason episode.
Episode 4 of “61st Street” premieres tonight at 8pm Central.
61st street on The CW has continued to be a propulsive legal thriller which courses through the dark heart of the infamous Chicago criminal justice system.
Tension within the community has been heighten all season due to the verdict and outcome of the trial in season 1 that involved the mistaken identity of a promising Black high school athlete who was swept up into the infamously corrupt Chicago criminal justice system. After last seasons storyline, an already torn community filled with corruption, drugs, crime, and political back door deals became further divided between race and class.
So far in season 2, viewers saw white Police Officer Logan violently beat and kill an innocent black man in a drunken rage on the streets of Chicago. For various reasons, mainly in the name of justice, attorney Franklin Roberts agrees to represent him in hopes of putting Logan’s corrupt department on trial and “drain the swamp” within the police department to help combat corruption on a large scale. However, this alliance threatens to turn Franklin’s community and family against him.

In house turmoil caused by illegal practices, scandalous situations, and immoral choices have cause the Chicago PD to become untrustworthy and highly flawed. Now that they are facing exposure, it’s no telling what lengths those behind the badge and behind the desk in high places will go to in order to keep up and maintain the image of valiant leaders who protect and serve the community from crumbling down.
Stakes are high, danger is ever present, and as much as Franklin wants to remain honorable and committed to noble causes, the choice to stand with Officer Logan may not only cost him his trust within the community, but also call his character into question by many of those in his personal life whom his choices also effect.
Two-time Emmy®-winner Courtney B. Vance leads an ensemble cast that includes Emmy®-nominee Aunjanue Ellis, Andrene Ward-Hammond, Mark O’Brien, Holt McCallany, Bentley Green and Jerod Haynes.
Season 2 of 61st street premiered its first of 8 episodes on July 22, 2024. Episode 4 premieres tonight on the CW at 8pm Central.
What else is Franklin willing to sacrifice in the name of Justice and Honor for all?
