YA series "We Were Liars" is a mysteriously good summer story debuting soon on Prime Video.

Prime Video‘s upcoming adaptation of E. Lockhart’s hit novel We Were Liars is set to be one of the summer’s hottest shows. Premiering tomorrow on Prime Video, the TV adaptation series of the same name follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her tight-knit inner circle nicknamed the “Liars” during their summer escapades on her grandfather’s New England private island. The Sinclair’s are American royalty—known for their good looks, old money, and enviable bond—but after a mysterious accident changes Cadence’s life forever, everyone, including her beloved “Liars”, seems to have something to hide.”

The series brilliantly uses first-person narration which sets the tone early on and continues to connect audiences to the action and drama throughout the show.

Prime Video’s increasing commitment to YA content has been a breathe of fresh air. The genre has been lackluster throughout multiple streaming services over the last few years, with shows being cancelled, or maybe 1-2 YA centric per streamer going passed 3 seasons.

The young adult centric tale is filled with mystery and romance. The free spirited and youthful wonder is captured well through the directors eye. Audiences will be pulled into the story and immersed in the seaside setting. The story allows viewers of various ages to relate to the adventurous nature of this young spirited characters. The youthful bliss, ambitious energy, and wide open heart makes the world feel like its at your fingertips.

Once old issues resurface and triggers the memory of the main character Cadence, the plot begins to unfold in a mysterious and intriguing way. Harsh realities force her to face some ugly truth while also leading her to uncover several dark and mysterious events from the past which lead her to question everything and everyone.

Leading the cast of We Were Liars is Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence Sinclair Eastman, Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, and Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis. Other notable cast members are Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, David Morse as Harris Sinclair, and Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil.

We Were Liars will premiere on June 18, 2025, on Prime Video. All eight episodes will drop at once.

The TV adaptation is written and executive produced by co-showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie. Executive producers include Emily Cummins for My So-Called Company and Lockhart. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amazon MGM Studios are behind the project. The novel is published by Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books.
