Everyone’s favorite serial stalker Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) makes his sinister debut for the 5th and FINAL time in Netflix’s hit series You. Season 5 of You slashed into Netflix today, April 24 with a 10 episode season. You season 5 centers on Joe as he "returns to New York to enjoy his happily ever after… until his perfect life is threatened by the ghosts of his past and his own dark desires."
For years now audiences have tuned in continuously, in droves to watch the charming and sinister serial killer Joe navigate his love life and place in society. Life for Joe has been filled with murder and deluded thoughts about why his crimes have been necessary to protect those that he loves. At times kind and infectious, this killer and extreme sociopath has been a complex, bizarre, and popular character to unpack for fans and critics alike.
In season 5 Joe’s journey is as dark, twisted, and as murderous as ever, even though at times he seems to be trying his best to live a normal and healthy life. Unlike his own childhood, Joe is striving to give his son Henry stability and a loving household, however, old homicidal habits seem to die hard.
For the first time, Joe finds himself being a part of the elite and upper echelon part of society, marrying into the well known, rich, and famous Lockwood family. With a loving, financially stable, and picture perfect family…what could possibly go wrong? Or better yet, what could possibly cause Joe to go right? …could it be….YOU.
Viewers will be along for one thrilling ride on the highway to hell as several things come full circle back in New York at Mooney’s bookstore where it all began.
Season 5 stars Penn Badgley, Charlotte Ritchie, Griffin Matthews, Anna Camp, and Madeline Brewer Guest Starring: Frankie DeMaio, Michael Dempsey, Michelle Hurd, Pete Ploszek, Tom Francis, Natasha Behnam, b, Alice Barrett-Mitchell, Nava Mau, Heidi Gardner, and Jefferson White.
Penn Badgley delivers an award worthy, gripping, and emotional performance in the series finale.
When asked, do you feel like Joe got the ending he deserved?
BADGLEY: I think so. He's a quandary in a way. What would justice for him look like? What does it really mean? think we get as close as we can. That's the question for all of us: how do you bring a man like this to justice? How we actually deal with the legacy of Joe Goldberg is a real question. All of the female protagonists are becoming heroines in their own right each episode, grappling with that. Hopefully the same way the viewers are.
